Rose and Oli were technically already married when I photographed their North Fitzroy Wedding. They had travelled to Denmark for the legal ceremony with Oli’s close family and friends, and now they were back in Melbourne for the big party. It made for a super relaxed day as Rose and Oli got ready together at home with their gorgeous daughter Tilde and their mums.
With no official bridal party, Rose honoured her best mates by inviting them all to have their hair and make up done in the cutest Salon in Melbourne, Kenny and the Sunshine Girls
Nothing like a few sisterly giggles.
The beautiful rings are by Raymond at Black Finch
Aaaaahhhhh the good ol’ bow tie challenge! Oli handled it well. Meanwhile some last minute vow preparation was happening in the other room.
I adored this scene of family bliss as Rose gave her gown a final press and steam. Tilde looks so chuffed.
After a toast and bubbles all round, we popped out for some portraits before the ceremony – I can’t tell you how much I LOVE taking portraits before a ceremony. It’s so relaxed and stress free. The bride and groom can go straight from ceremony to congratulations to party with no interruption afterwards.
Oli was looking so sharp and Rose… ROSE! gah! look at those beautiful eyes.
A surprise guest made several appearances during the reception and was ushered out by the kids!
Firecracker Events prepared dinner as a series of large share platters designed to be passed around the table. Within seconds every table was full of chatter and like a family passing delicious food around.
It is traditional at Danish weddings for the guests to sing songs to the Bride and Groom, This is a room full of people belting out a version of Waltzing Matilda with lyrics all about Rose and Oli. It was so much fun. And then the crowd went crazy throwing shapes on the dance floor.
