Big Day Out – Melbourne 2011

It was a massive day at Flemington in scorching 40 degree heat yesterday. But the kids were resilient ( I say kids because I realised it had been 17 years since I last went to a Big Day Out so I felt a bit of a grandma) and marched through the gates in their thousands.

I developed a few new band crushes seeing the likes of Operator Please for the first time  and rekindled some old flames in the form of the ever energetic Iggy Pop. I managed to escape comedy sunburn and dehydration, but a bunch of the punters will be walking lobster zombies today.

Here’s some shots from the day. More can be seen here at Take 40 and The Hot Hits

Grinderman – Mr Nick Cave

Pnau

M.I.A.

Angus and Julia Stone, but you know, the other way around

Washington – not sure if thats the set list written on her arm…

Operator Please – I want to be them :)

Edward Sharpe and the Magnetic Zeroes – so very chirpy

Wolfmother

Sia – all stripy!
